Delivered In Beta

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

This is a great little documentary about the openness of design. Whether it be with ideas or with products, it’s the process of getting those ideas out to our community or the world and giving that chance of calibration. Produced by KS12.

Delivered in Beta from KS12.

Gotham

“New York is peculiarly constructed to absorb any event that comes along, without inflicting the event on its inhabitants; so that every event is, in a sense, optional, and the inhabitant is in the happy position of being able to choose his spectacle and so conserve his soul… I believe (this) has a positive effect on the creative capacities of New Yorkers—for creation is in part the business of forgoing the great and small distractions.”
—Here is New York, E.B White, Summer 1948

Below are some excerpts from Bill Morrison and Michael Gordan’s collaboration with Gotham. The music is beautiful and truly emotional. The excerpts from the film look great as well, hopefully I can figure out a way to see the film.

One in 8 Million

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Things like this are just wonderful reminders that so many different people live on this planet. Over on New York Times website, they have this collection of interviews from people living in New York City. These simple interviews with supporting images are a true example of just the variety of people living in just one city. I know, it’s New York, but it just goes to show the differences that all of these people bring to one place. This is just the reason to get out there meet more people, to learn, listen, and to explore their minds. Then hopefully, I can see the world in a different manner, one that is for the better.

Halloween is almost here, one day away. Above is a picture from a little pumpkin carving session at my place. It was fun, I haven’t done that in such a long time. I carved a simplified Boba Fett face and then we watched The Lost Boys, great movie! Now I have a day and a half to find my costume. Bring on the challenge.

Playing For Change

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Playing For Change was founded on the idea that music can bring people together while breaking down barriers that would usually pull us apart in our day to day life. The crew is releasing a movie, Peace Through Music, based on their travels and the music that has helped them discover some of these inaccessible places. This has been some wonderful inspiration today because one of my goals in life is to set up an organization or non-profit type of group driven by music and the arts to support people in need throughout small communities. So now the thoughts are brewing, many good ideas surfacing and much research/planning to be done, but I think I can do something to help, even if it’s just for one city in the US. To Playing For Change, thanks for the inspiration!
