bobafett-face-pumpkins

Halloween is almost here, one day away. Above is a picture from a little pumpkin carving session at my place. It was fun, I haven’t done that in such a long time. I carved a simplified Boba Fett face and then we watched The Lost Boys, great movie! Now I have a day and a half to find my costume. Bring on the challenge.

Happy Birthday Cousin Jason!

Dysrhythmia

This past Tuesday I got to see Dysrhythmia play again for the second time here in Portland at the Rotture. What a show! These guys seriously melt some faces. They have just released a new album this past summer called Psychic Maps on Relapse Records and played “Festival of Popular Delusions” from it and gave that song a whole new breed of energy. With only three guys, they can give one hell of a power punch, Jeff wailing on the kit, Kevin shredding passages on the 6-string machine, and Colin playing the bass faster and more technical then most guitar players around.

Also from the night, a local band from Portland, With Eyes Abstract, opened up right before Dysrhythmia and grabbed my attention causing me to leave the show with both of there albums. Right up the alley with Dysrhythmia, With Eyes Abstract surely knows how to create some wild passages and patterns with only three dudes too. They just released a brand new album called Fire At The Library and if you enjoy the tunes of Dysrhythmia, I would definitely recommend these guys.

Playing For Change

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Playing For Change was founded on the idea that music can bring people together while breaking down barriers that would usually pull us apart in our day to day life. The crew is releasing a movie, Peace Through Music, based on their travels and the music that has helped them discover some of these inaccessible places. This has been some wonderful inspiration today because one of my goals in life is to set up an organization or non-profit type of group driven by music and the arts to support people in need throughout small communities. So now the thoughts are brewing, many good ideas surfacing and much research/planning to be done, but I think I can do something to help, even if it’s just for one city in the US. To Playing For Change, thanks for the inspiration!
